Breathe in, Breathe out…
“It’s not a bad idea to occasionally spend a little time thinking about things you take for granted. Plain everyday things.”-Evan Davis
Most of my mornings go something like this: I open my eyes, and right away I start thinking of all the things I have to complete for the day. For example, this morning, I let my fur babies out for their regular potty time. Upon noticing that more than just Jack Frost had stopped by, I instantly rolled my eyes in dismay. Instead of basking in the miracle of a freshly fallen snow, I mumbled to myself, “great, more snow.” I walked away, hesitated and then turned back to glance out the window. This time I paused to take in the sparkling beauty and the stark white yard that lay before me. The tree limbs looked like they were trying to brace themselves from breaking against yet another onslaught of the frozen wonder that covered them. I noticed the sun’s rays bouncing off the white powder and creating tiny glitter all over my lawn. My pond, covered in a thin sheet of ice and snow, looked pretty with the dock hovering above it. I realized in that instant that even with the stark coldness in today’s weather, that also, came with it a beautiful blessing. It really depends on how you look at it. Life depends on how you look at it! We each have challenges in our lives, we have ups and downs however, each day we are blessed to be able to wake up, to breathe in and breathe out. Many people struggle with this action that seems so simple to the rest of us. How many of us take breathing for granted? In our occupation, we see a lot of problems related to breathing. We see everything ranging from COPD to Sleep apnea, and so much more. All of these have one thing in common, they affect our breathing in one way or another. For those struggling with any disease that affects your breathing, we are here to help. While we cannot make these problems go away entirely, we promise to pass on to you our knowledge and give you all the tools and education necessary to manage your breathing issues more effectively. Our goal is simply this: to help you breathe in, and breathe out. Our desire is to provide you with everything in our power that will help you breathe better each day. Whether this is oxygen, a CPAP or a nebulizer, as respiratory therapists we have learned to never take breathing for granted, because we have been up close and personal our entire career with those struggling to breathe. Each day we are granted is a blessing, whether there is a white blanket outside and frigid temperatures, or a bouquet of fresh flowers on a warm summer day, let’s not take anything for granted. As always, we wish you the best and start each day AFresh!
